By accident I caught the second episode of BBC’s recent adaption of Jane Austen’s Emma this weekend. It’s beautiful! I didn’t catch the story at all but sat for an hour, fascinated by the beautiful costumes, settings, and filming.
Apparently, almost all clothes were recycled from other movies and tv shows! You can read the list here.
I got so excited, I wanted to read the novel as well, which you can find here: Project Gutenberg
And if you like screenshots and icons, or you missed the first two episodes and would like to see them on your computer, go here: Livejournal’s BBC Costume Drama community.
As usual with BBC Productions, beautifully done. But in the spirit of the book ?????
You’ve got a very cute and informative blog! : ) i’m preparing a presentation about victorian gothic fictions right know and so i dropped on your blog, all my compliments

I surely hope BBC aira this again soon–I love Emma! The only version I’ve ever seen is the one with Gweneth Paltro from a few years ago. Emma is on my 101/1001 list of things I want to read/do.
Love your site! I found it by researching the Victorian Christmas so I can both decorate appropriately and do a write-up about it on my blog.
All the best,
Rebekah
I haven’t seen the BBC adaption of Emma yet, but I have seen the Mirimax movie with Gwyneth Paltrow and I really enjoyed that one! I think it’s one of the best Jane Austen adaptions yet.
Have you seen Persuasion with Cirian Hinds?

I adore that movie. I watched bbc mini dramas, like North&South, Sense and sensibility, and of course Pride and Prejudice and I must say that these movies are done great. :)))
