I went to a Anton Mauve exhibition in the Springer museum. Mauve was a nineteenth-century painter, painting Dutch weather and rural scenes. I was especially charmed by his depictions of farmer’s gardens.
The museum’s website, do visit it if you get the chance!
You can read some more about his life here.
There is no online gallery, only Google images.
This is a very nice blog… I can see that you put a lot of heart on your posts, that’s why I’m sure I’d visit here more often. Anyway, if you have time, you can visit my blog as well, Abstract Art Painting / Buy Abstract Art. See yah!
I have an 18″x 24″ Anton Mauve picture, watercolor and black chalk.( Solo logger in sandy road) It’s not a print.
I can send photos. Where should I go to get an appraisal. Should I expect to be charged for an appraisal? The art musem? I live near Chicago. Any advice appreciated, Janice
Hi Janice, often auction houses will have free appraisal days, you could see if there are any near you! Museums don’t do appraisals very often but they might, it will probably cost a little fee. If they cannot help you, emailing the museum from my post and sending them some pictures might give you some more information!
Hey, I love your site. It seems most people don’t really bother writing articles that lack substance nowadays.
Ive been researching this and I’ll have to agree
Do you have any links to information about Anton Mauve’s son (who was also Anton Mauve, and also painted)? I have a painting by Anton Mauve, but the person who sold it to me does not know if it’s by Mauve or if it’s by his son. It looks very similar to subjects/settings that Anton Mauve Sr painted- I would be curious to see some of the work by his son and maybe compare.
Yes, the paintings are very charming. Could you please give some information about the “Springer Museum.”
Hi Hieronymus, what kind of information do you need? The Singer museum is a museum in the Dutch town of Laren, with a nice collection of 20th century art and many interesting exhibitions. Their website is here: http://www.singerlaren.nl/en/
Wow! Nice pictures
